How does national guard time in service contribute to overall time in service?
If I have completed four years of national guard / reserve duty and ended as an e5, and I plan on enlisting in the army... would my enlisted pay start at the five year time in service mark?
If not, how does it work then?
1. For pay purposes, it would be like you had 4 years service.
2. But for retirement purposes, you need to calculate your guard points earned.
IE: one point for each day of drill, one point for each day called to active duty
365 points equals one year of active duty service.
3. So for a guardsmen who never deployed, 4 years would equal around 1 year of active duty service time.
